The Lukla to Everest Trek

Grade           Length
Strenuous          20 days

Description
Limited by time? This itinerary allows you to fulfill your desire see the Mt. Everest area. The trick is to begin and end one's trek at Lukla. Flying into Lukla at 9,400 feet eliminates several days of trekking and several thousands of feet of ascending up from lower valleys. North from Lukla, the route follows the classic trekking route up to Namche Bazar and on beyond to the spectacular view of Mount Everest from Kalapathar.

The following alternatives to this itinerary are possible beyond Dingboche on day 9, but require additional days: the Imjatse option, the Gokyo option, or the Cho La pass option. Prices vary by option.

We strongly recommend that you be in very good physical condition if starting from Lukla as you will have little time to adjust to high altitude. To combat the possibility of altitude sickness, we have scheduled rest days at Namche Bazar and at Pheriche or Dingboche.
