The Manaslu Circuit Trek

Grade           Length
Strenuous          22 days

Description
Manaslu (8,156m, 26,785ft) is the world's eighth highest peak. This area, situated close to the Annapurna Range, was only opened for trekking in 1992 but is already acknowledged to be one of the finest trekking routes.

Heading north from Gorkha, the route follows the Budi Gandaki river up through a stupendous narrow gorge and then turns westwards into a high alpine valley, passing through several Tibetan villages and by a number of fine monasteries. A steep ascent to Larkya La pass (5,212 m) provides exquisite views of the Manaslu and Annapurna Ranges. Descending to the Marsyangdi river, we follow a portion of the Annapurna circuit south into subtropical farm country.

Although as scenic as the more famous Annapurna circuit, access to much of this route is limited by permit to only a few hundred trekkers each year.
